its sound
forever stilled in spider's web
- the ancient bell

late again for zazen
roshi how do I explain
the white butterfly

leaden sky
near the weathered boat
a white heron

winter silence
the flames in brandy glasses
and our eyes

sharing umbrella
your wet shoulder
and my right one

early dusk
the only sound
wind through the pines

mountain
swimming back and forth
in the fog

in the mist
lost on mountain
temple bells

toad --
brother to Basho's frog
how can I dissect you ?

in the silence
on the zendo
my stomach growls

an I.V. line
anchors me to the monitor
thoughts still wander

Winter night--
through layer upon layer
the cold finds me

After the host
Father fiddles with the crumbs--
Easter Sunday

White wildflowers
one flies off

The kind boy
closing his eyes
when he talks

Wife's long voice mail--
before the end I've started
talking to the phone

Viewing the new computer screen
the kitten's eyes
refocus

Office building--
same cloud
in every window

Lone bicycle
crossing the chain bridge--
July sun

Kitten...
remembers he was
biting me
